Manual Handling Training - eLearning

This course introduces you to the underlying principles that relate to moving and assisting.

It is designed for all staff who undertake moving and handling of people within a care environment. The programme complies with the Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992 (as amended 2002). Manual handling regulations has specific criteria under the Health and Safety Act (HSAW) 1974.

By the end of this unit on the principles of moving and assisting safely and practice you will be able to:

  • State what is meant by the term moving and assisting
  • State the legal requirements relating to safer moving and handling at work.
  • Understand the bio-mechanics of the spine, and associated musculoskeletal disorders.
  • Demonstrate the principles of a moving and assisting risk assessment.
  • Understand some handling techniques.
